The Making Of A Mischief Maker

A LOOK INTO THE PROCESS

All Mischief Maker slingshots are made in our Portland, Oregon shop by Mighty Fun! They are a modern take on a truly classic toy, the slingshot. The kind of toy that brings out the kid in all of us. Here is a look into how they are made.

"Wouldn't It Be Cool...."

It all started with the desire to make a slingshot. We wanted to design one that offered great performance but also referenced the nostalgia of wooden slingshots of the past while making it ourselves, so we did a little brainstorming and sketching.

Non-Toxic Wood = It's a Winner

We sourced the best materials. North American harvested Maple wood comes to us from a supplier in our home state of Oregon. Not only does it have a beautiful finish, it’s also formaldehyde-free and sustainably harvested, making it kid-safe, non-toxic, as well as, good for the planet.

It's not a slingshot without Ammo

Soft EVA foam balls in bright colors are the perfect solution to ensure both great performance and safe play. Each Mischief Maker comes with four foam balls that are easy to load into the slingshot’s soft foam launch pegs that are popped into flight with the foam hammer.

Assembled in Small Batches

Two layers of printed maple sandwich a foam middle with custom launch pegs designed to hold a foam ball. Add in the foam hammer and bungee mechanism then grommet together. It’s the little details that make the Mischief Makers top-notch and unique.

Packaged and ready to go!

Our passion for the Mischief Makers are carried out with their final packaging. Muslin storage bags, how-to-use cards and well-made kraft paper boxes are wrapped with a colorful image of the slingshot inside. It’s these extra special packaging details that add to the originality of the Mischief Makers making them a great gift to give or receive.

Good Ol' Fashioned Fun

Ultimately, it all comes down to the kids. We truly love creating unique toys that celebrate childhood and encourage kids to get out and make a little mischief!
